Sun Mountain Lodge remains a premier PNW escape, blending rustic charm with refined comfort. The views over the Methow Valley are breathtaking, and the direct access to winter trails is unbeatable. A huge highlight of the stay was the service; the dining servers were exceptional, providing warm, attentive care that made every meal feel like a special occasion. Between the roaring fireplaces and that legendary chicken curry soup, it’s the ultimate spot to truly unplug. It’s rare to find such a perfect balance of luxury and genuine mountain hospitality

Stunning in the Spring. The rooms are large, clean and the bathrooms are fully updated. You could spend multiple days hiking the trails around the mountain. I would give full stars but the restaurant serves inedible food. I ordered a breakfast and a drink the night before that I couldn’t finish. If you go eat in town.

The setting at Sun Mountain is incredible. You are literally staying in a billionaires mountain top getaway - and it’s surrounded by an incredible trail system year round. The lodge is lovely. Full stop. They seem to struggle with being chronically understaffed so some things don’t run as smoothly or simply don’t happen. The only major challenge here is the food. I understand that running a quality food program in this location would be extremely challenging - and probably prohibitively expensive. But it’s kind of like they’re not even trying. We will absolutely return, and we’ll arm ourselves eith more of our own food options. Heading in to town to eat yields great food, but kind of defeats the purpose of staying out on the mountain top.

Sun Mt. Lodge IS A BEAUTIFUL resort experience. Located high atop a mountain west of Winthrop, WA. Service is outstanding, employees are friendly and always willing to help out in most situations. Five star resteraunt and elegant bar overlooking the entire Methoelw valley. Although we stay here every summer, this is our first Christmas trip to the lodge. As always, top notch in all categories! So many things to do from cross country skiing, snow showing, sledding, hiking, biking and sleigh rides too exploring Winthrop and all that this charming town offers. Quiet suites (without television) adds to the western Lodge experience. With so much to offer from the Lodge to the cabins at the lake and all of the amenities, there is no reason to leave if that is what you enjoy

Wow! What a fabulous lodge, the staff are really friendly and helpful. Our room is amazing. And you can't beat the views. Highly recommend Sun Mountain Lodge. No TV, great game room, with all kinds of games. You can sit by a warm fire. The food in the restaurants are fantastic. Great place to unwind and relax. We will be coming back.

This is a special hotel, no resort. Sun Mountain Lodge is what a mountain resort is suppose to be. Great location for all season outdoor activities. I mainly hike, and even after the fires a few years ago, it is special to day hike. Good for whole family. We stayed in Gardner rooms which a large, but whole hotel is so quiet and relaxing. On site food is limited, and to be honest a bit expensive, but so good. The dinning room is a wonderful experience with the view and food. I have been visiting this lodge for 10 years and still think it is a must visit.

One of the best family vacations we’ve taken. The Sun Mountain Lodge was perfect for our family. It had such a peaceful atmosphere and the location was perfect! The rooms are spacious and clean with comfortable beds. There is so much to do. There are trails, a game room, star-gazing at night, horseback riding, kayaking and more! We loved swimming in the pool with the stunning mountain views. My daughter still talks about her pony ride at the ranch. The staff was lovely and extremely helpful. We forgot something precious behind in our room, house-keeping kept it for us and returned it to us. We will definitely return!

HIDDEN GEM! As a female solo traveler, I ran into a few itinerary issues, and the hosts could not have been more accommodating. They are truly some of the kindest, most thoughtful people. Not to mentioned the views!!! They also have a ranch nearby, which added a special touch to the experience. When my car battery died, the front desk immediately stepped in to help and made sure I was safe before getting back on the road. They even offered me an additional night at a discounted rate. The people are what made this place so memorable—I couldn’t recommend it more.
